Hi! I’m so glad you’re here and grateful to be on your support team- a few things to note:

LANGLEY: Kate is now seeing patients in Walnut Grove, please scroll down to the “Langley” section for bookings in Langley.

NEW PATIENTS: In addition to your initial assessment, please book 2-3 follow up sessions spaced 1- 2 weeks apart. To book a virtual session, please select an appointment under the Online Physiotherapy section. If you can’t find an appointment time that works for you, please add yourself to the waitlist, to be automatically notified of cancellations as they come up.

LOCATION: Gravida operates out of the Aveta Midwifery clinic on the 3rd floor of 223 Nelson’s Crescent (the South tower) and Kate’s home clinic in Walnut Grove. For New West: If you haven’t been to the clinic before leave yourself extra time to get to your appointment. There might not be someone at the front desk of your appointment when you arrive but Kate will come get you at the time of your appointment.

INSURANCE: Kate can direct bill to most extended health providers. Unfortunately, we cannot direct bill to MSP & don’t take ICBC or WorkSafe BC cases at this time.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Kate requires 24 hours notice for any cancellations. Your appointment time has been held just for you and late cancellations are costly to Kate and patients who aren’t seen. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to the full fee of the appointment. Cancellation fees cannot be billed to insurance, however most providers will cover virtual care- so consider changing your appointment to a virtual appointment if you’re unable to make it into the clinic.

Pessary Fittings

Pessaries are flexible silicone devices used to support pelvic organ prolapse. If you think you may benefit from a pessary or have been referred for a pessary fitting by your doctor please contact Kate to schedule.

Classes

Movement & Education Classes are designed to combine guidance through functional and rehabilitative exercise to build strength, and education that is relevant to whatever stage you are at in your motherhood journey. Physiotherapy receipts are not provided for classes and as such are not billable to extended health.

Kate holds a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia, which she completed in 2016, following undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria. She began working in pelvic health physiotherapy in 2017, after recognizing how underserved people often are during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and throughout different stages of life.

With a decade of clinical experience, Kate has developed a practice focused on supporting individuals with pelvic pain, bladder and bowel concerns, menopause symptoms, and particularly pregnancy-related symptoms and postpartum core and pelvic floor recovery. She has completed extensive post-graduate training in pelvic health and is committed to ongoing education to ensure her care reflects current research and best practices.

Kate’s interest in pelvic health is also shaped by personal experience. As someone who has gone through two unmedicated vaginal births, she brings a deep understanding of the physical and emotional realities that can accompany pregnancy, birth, and recovery.

In her work with clients, Kate integrates education, hands-on treatment, and individualized exercise to empower people to understand their bodies and feel supported throughout their care. She strives to create a welcoming, inclusive space where clients feel listened to, respected, and actively involved in their health journey.

Kate loves building connection and a sense of community through her work. She is active in her profession as a member of the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Women’s Health Division, the Canadian Society for Pelvic Medicine, and the Women’s Health Training Association, but her real passion is sharing practical, usable information and helping people feel less alone in their bodies. That’s a big reason she runs pre- and postnatal classes, where movement becomes a way to connect, learn, and support one another. She also enjoys giving back locally and volunteers with New West Family Place and Burnaby Family Life.

When she’s not seeing clients, Kate’s time is almost entirely spent keeping up with her two young kids, ages 3 and 5. She fits in weight training and running when she can, still enjoys travel (a little less spontaneously than pre kids), and remains optimistic in her ongoing trial-and-error relationship with both baking and gardening.
